The is designed to help undergraduate students with financial need meet educational expenses through meaningful employment. The positions can range from clerical work to housekeeping. Students are paid at least the current federal minimum wage for hours worked. The amount a student is awarded depends on their financial need and the school’s funding level. The amount a student earns cannot exceed their total Federal Work Study award or their demonstrated financial need. You must have a completed FAFSA and financial aid file to qualify for Federal Work Study.
Some positions are available through limited funding from the university. These positions are referred to as Institutional Work. All students have eligibility to participate in the Institutional Work program regardless of demonstrated financial need and a FAFSA is not required to be filed.
Only currently enrolled students may be employed in either program.

There is typically only enough funding to employ between 85-100 students each year. Given the limited resources available to employ students, many applicants will not receive employment. We encourage you to take note of the departments to which you have applied and follow-up with them within a week of submitting your job application. Remember: You must apply for a federal work study position, interview, accept a job offer, and then work to earn the funds as a paycheck!
